History

The MI-24S is a variant of the renowned Soviet-designed MI-24 attack helicopter, introduced during the Cold War. Developed by the Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant, the MI-24 entered service in the early 1970s, combining troop transport capabilities with heavy firepower. The MI-24S was one of several upgraded models, tailored for improved performance, avionics, and survivability in combat. It retained the iconic tandem cockpit and armoured fuselage while integrating night vision systems and enhanced targeting capabilities. The MI-24 series, including the S variant, saw extensive use in Afghanistan, Chechnya, and other conflicts, proving both feared and respected. Its versatility earned it the nickname "flying tank." Despite its age, the MI-24S remains in limited service today, showcasing the durability of its design.
